Kite Systems began working with our client in 2009 by assisting with the enhancement of their Java/Oracle based American Clearing House (ACH) system. Our client’s system solution is a unique payroll product, which combines, a stored value wallet, pre-paid Master card integration, and the ability to purchase goods and services on the device. This can all be done using a wide range of mobile platforms including the cheapest phones available using USSD/SMS, or with modern smartphones.
Our client’s system solution is also connected to a proprietary vouchering system built by Kite's developers to provide a mechanism to securely store and distribute pre-paid services.
Other purchases are offered through direct integration with providers, allowing wallet users to top up Kingo accounts and purchase international airtime as a form of remittance. Direct payments to merchants and shops are also facilitated through the inclusion of reference codes.
Wallet users can also top-up their wallets through bank deposits and transfers as well as send and receive money to and from other wallet users accounts. This essentially creates a full mobile banking system capable of supporting the unbanked population's financial needs.
The platform is built to scale to 100s of thousands of users and its core utilizes a multi currency enterprise grade ACID based transactional processing system built in house to ensure transactional resilience. The platform is built using a combination of Java/Spring, Oracle and Python/Django.
