Network Design and Support

Kite Systems has many years experience in designing SME and enterprise grade network infrastructure, both for the LAN and WAN. In addition to in house networks we are experts in managing distributed  and road warrior work forces through the use of VPNs, remote desktops and mobile devices. 

Kite Systems consider security to be of paramount importance and we specialise in the use of Cisco hardware and open source tools to configure and secure the network. We understand that securing the network should begin from the inside not just the perimeter. 

We are experts in the use of the following technologies: TCP/IP, PIX firewalls, Cisco Routers, Linux based security and monitoring devices, Snort, squid, apache reverse proxy and MRTG.

Virtualisation

Virtualisation obscures the physical characteristics of a network from the users and applications running on the hardware. It can be used to create several virtual machines on one physical computer, allowing, for example, a single sever to replace a much more complex physical infrastructure, resulting in significant cost reduction. The reverse is also true where several different physical devices can be made to appear as a single virtual entity allowing, for example, large scale distributed storage arrays to appear to the user as a single drive.

Thin Client

Thin client solutions involve using the central server resources to handle the processing needs for your business applications. Users then interact across the network through thin client terminals which provide the interface into the servers. A properly structured thin client network can provide large savings in hardware implementation costs and, most significantly, reduce the overhead of IT support. There are huge benefits to be had when using this with mobile users when security is paramount. The user can be mobile but the data remains safely within the confines of the corporate network.

We can design and implement a solution based on Microsoft Terminal Server, Citrix or 2x. We can advise on network design and implementation including appropriate hardware requirements and associated systems.
